FICA Requirements for Connected Persons

For individuals (i.e. natural persons)
 
  • Physical residential address. Does not need to be verified.
  • Contact details (i.e. telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, etc).
  • Identification document:

For a South African Citizen

A valid South African issued green bar-coded identity document
OR a smart card identity document
OR an unabridged birth certificate for minors (under 18 years)

If not available, one of the following documents accompanied by a declaration explaning why the green bar-coded ID or Smart Card can not be provided: a) a valid South African driver’s licence; b) a valid South African passport; c) a valid temporary identity document.

For a Foreign Nationals

A valid passport
OR a valid maroon identity document.
OR a valid section 24 permit verified in writing by the Department of Home Affairs.
OR a letter from an Embassy or Consulate stating the full names passport number and residential address of the individual
 
For non-individuals (i.e. businesses and legal persons)
 
For a Close Corporation
    • Founding Statement and Certificate of Incorporation (CK1)

    • Amended Founding Statement (CK2) (if applicable)

    • Proof of physical operating address. If multiple addresses, proof of physical operating address must be given for the office seeking the business relationship AND the Head Office. Click here to view a comprehensive list of acceptable documents.

    • Contact details (i.e. telephone number, e-mail address, etc). Does not need to be verified.


For an Unlisted South African Company

    • Certificate of Incorporation (CM1)
    • Certificate of change of name of company (CM9) (if applicable) 
    • Notice of Registered Office and Postal Address (CM22)
    • Contents Of Register Of Directors And Officers (CM29)
OR Registration Certificate (form CoR 14.3) - Registration certificate for local company
OR Registration Certificate (form CoR 17.3) - Registration certificate of foreign company transferring registration to the Republic.

 For an Unlisted Foreign Company

    • Official document issued by an authority for recording the incorporation of companies of the country of incorporation of the foreign company, witnessing its incorporation and bearing its registered name, number of incorporation and the registered address where it is situated for purposes of its incorporation;

OR Certificate of Certificate (form CoR 20.2) - Registration Certificate of External Company

For a Listed Company

    • Registered name (Does not need to be verified)
    • Registration number (Does not need to be verified)
    • Registered address (Does not need to be verified)
    • Proof of securities exchange listing. Official documentation from the relevant securities exchange, or other acceptable source, reflecting current listing status.
    • Contact details (i.e. telephone number, e-mail address, etc). Does not need to be verified.

For a Partnerships

    • Partnership agreement in terms of which the partnership was formed;

OR if a partnership agreement cannot be provided, then a declaration by all the partners, that there is no partnership agreement.

    • Contact details (i.e. telephone number, e-mail address, etc). Does not need to be verified.


For a Trust

    • Trust deed, or other founding document, in terms of which the trust is created.
    • Letters of Authority issued by the Master of the High Court where the Trust was registered (or equivalent document, for international trusts).
    • Contact details (i.e. telephone number, e-mail address, etc). Does not need to be verified.

For a Other Legal Entity

    • Constitution / registration certificate / government gazette or other founding document in terms of which the legal person is created;

OR if a constitution or founding document cannot be provided, then a declaration by all the mandated officials authorised to establish a business relationship on behalf of the entity, that there is no constitution or founding document.
